Why the SunSetter XT Uses Vinyl Instead of Acrylic
Most retractable awnings are covered with solution-dyed acrylic fabrics such as Sunbrella®. These fabrics provide excellent shade and UV protection but are water-resistant rather than completely waterproof.
The SunSetter XT is different. It was designed to use a laminated vinyl fabric that keeps rain from passing through the material, making it ideal for homeowners who want to enjoy their patio during light rain showers.
XT awnings can hold water if a leg isn’t dropped or if they do not have adequate pitch, so selecting the right fabric is essential. *No retractable awning should be left extended during heavy rain. While Weblon Coastline offers excellent dimensional stability, standing water can damage any retractable awning if allowed to accumulate.
