The
wind chart above represents the safe allowable wind speed that each Sunflexx
size, when properly installed, is capable of withstanding. It is the responsibility
of the installer to assure that the mounting surface and structure are
strong enough to support the awning size which is being installed.
The
above wind load figures are the result of tests performed with the advice
of, and studies conducted by, Harry Daugherty, PE. This data is valid
only for products manufactured according to information supplied by the
manufacturer at the time of the tests and/or studies.
The
data above are based on the general procedure for determining the design
winds on structures as indicated in ASCE 7-88, Minimum Design Loads for
Buildings and Other Structures. This document allows for a momentary gust
of a particular amount over and above the steady design and wind velocity.
This should NOT be interpreted to mean that the above product is to be
used in an environment where fastest-mile velocities are greater than
the speeds listed in the chart above. This chart should NOT be used to
countermand any state or local code provisions. Unusual site conditions
or unusual building shapes resulting in extraordinary pressures around
corners and/or edges should not have this chart data applied.
This
chart is for standard Sunflexx® awnings. It is the only awning manufactured
with certified wind loads tests. Certified wind loads for Wind & Rain
Package equipped are not available.
